Sony's PS5 will be released in Singapore on Nov 19

The new-gen console will cost you either S$599 or S$729.

Console gamers, rejoice. The PlayStation 5’s (PS5) release date and price have finally been announced.

The standard version with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive retails for $729, while the digital edition that comes without the disc drive will set you back $599, said Sony in a livestream on Thursday (Sep 17).

Seven countries, including Japan and South Korea, will get to enjoy an earlier release date of Nov 12. Singapore is not among that list however, which means we will have to wait an additional week until Nov 19 when the rest of the world gets it.

Online pre-orders for PS5 will start on Friday at 11am.  Offline Pre-order will also start on the same day, although the start time varies depending on the store operation hours, said Sony.

Some of the new games that were also announced with the PS5's release include God Of War: Ragnarok, Final Fantasy XVI and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

The PS5 is powered by an eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU and a custom AMD RDNA 2-based GPU. It comes with 825GB of storage, with the custom SSD providing 5.5GB/s of performance.

For the uninitiated, this means the PS5 boasts lightning-fast processing speeds.

Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida has even boasted that this new SSD will enable processing speeds that are 100 times faster than the PlayStation 4, which was first released on Nov 15, 2013.

The PS5 is also able to support 8K graphics, 4K graphics at a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3D audio.
