New transport scheme for tertiary students from families impacted financially by the pandemic

NewsSocial causes

Tertiary students whose family income has been affected by COVID-19 will get a one time payment of $150 or $300 to cover transport expenses.

To help offset transport costs for students of families whose income has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the North East Community Development Council (CDC) has rolled out a new scheme.

Students whose families have lost income during the pandemic may be eligible to receive a $150 or $300 one-off payment to cover transport expenses for three months.

To qualify, students need to be North East District residents, aged 17 to 25, and studying full-time in a Singapore-based public or private educational institution. Household per capita income must also be $800 or below and the student must not be on other forms of financial assistance.

The amount paid out will also depend on what education level the student is studying at.

Click here for more details or to apply for the scheme. The application period is open until Dec 31, 2020.
