ASUS Republic of Gamers collaborate with IKEA to make affordable gaming furniture

The ASUS ROG x IKEA team up, slated for 2021 release, will feature about 30 gaming furnitures and accessories to help redefine the gaming experience at home.

Republic of Gamers (ROG), a PC hardware manufacturer, is teaming up with IKEA to bring game lovers affordable furniture and accessories to help meet their gaming needs.

The furniture line will be rolled out in China in February 2021 and will be available in other IKEA markets from October next year.

ROG announced the collaboration with IKEA on its Twitter on Sep 14.

There are currently no details on what products are going to make up the "new home gaming ecosystem" envisioned by both companies, but ROG promised to reveal more details soon.

ROG's experience in creating exceptional gaming experiences combined with IKEA's knowledge of home furnishings make this an interesting partnership.

Ewa Rychert, global business leader of workspace at IKEA, said the collaboration's aim is to debunk stereotypes that "games are built on violence, gaming is asocial and it is predominantly a men's activity".

He added: "Playing games can actually improve an individual's mental health and general well-being", along with providing "a new way of connecting with others".

"It's a source of relaxation, independence, fun; through gaming, people develop skills within problem solving, teamwork and communication."

Kris Huang, general manager of Asus Gaming Gear, believed that this collaboration will create synergies.

He said: "That [will empower gamers] to build the gaming space they have always imagined in the comfort of their own homes."
