Grow your own vegetable garden with free seed packs from NParks

Sign up for your free seed pack by Jun 30.

Here's a chance for you to start a small home garden!

The National Parks Board (NParks) will be giving interested households in Singapore seed packets as part of their Gardening with Edibles initiative.

You can register for a seed pack here by Jun 30, while stocks last. The packs are expected to be mailed out by Aug 1, and will contain seeds for one type of leafy vegetable and one type of fruited vegetable.

Examples of vegetable seeds you may receive are kang kong, xiao bai cai, cucumber, lady's finger or tomato.

Each pack will also include a detailed guide on how to grow these vegetables.

The Gardening with Edibles initiative aims to encourage Singaporeans to grow their own edible vegetables at home, and is part of the larger "30 by 30" national strategy to have 30 per cent of Singapore's food produced locally by 2030.

Second Minister for National Development Desmond Lee launched the initiative on Jun 18, and highlighted the need for Singapore to strengthen its food security.

"Through the Gardening with Edibles programme, we also hope to raise awareness of the value of food and the need to reduce food wastage," he said.

NParks has also released a series of YouTube tutorials to get you started on your gardening journey. The series also includes recipes for local dishes that you can make with your vegetables once they are ready for harvest!
