Staycations are fun and games until someone finds poop in the kettle.
A week ago, Youth.SG asked our followers on Instagram to share about their worst staycation stories.
From period stains to broken friendships, here are some of the most absurd staycation horror stories we've received.
A bloody experience
"My friends and opened the hotel door, saw white bedsheets and proceeded to jump on that cloud fluff. The nightmare began when we pulled the sheets down and saw huge blots of blood all over the sheets.
I guess someone had really bad cramps!" - @samuelmichaeltham
The neighbouring supernatural pal
"My roomie went over to her friend's room and I was left alone in my hotel room when I heard two knocks on my wall. I thought it was from my neighbour and so I knocked back, thinking it was fun.
This continued for a while until I realised my room was at the corner and that side of the wall where the knock came from was not linked to any rooms. I was so scared that I ran to my neighbour and stayed with them till my roomie came back!" - @jilliansmileylow
Tragically broken friendship
"My friend and I shared my single bed. Halfway through the night, she stole the blanket and pillow and kicked me off the bed…before she fell on top of me on the cold hard floor. By morning, I was shivering in coldness and vomited.
And the best part? She didn't believe me, and now we are no longer friends." - @dawn_zt

A sleepless night
"While sleeping, I was awakened by banging noises from the wall. Apparently, the couple next door was making love vigorously. When I tried to go back to sleep, my share of the blanket was gone. My girlfriend rolled herself nicely into a sushi with my share of the blanket and slept soundly.
I eventually gave up on my attempt to sleep." - @muaymaga
"The one night I had in Prague, I found poo in the kettle. But that's just the appetiser – my partner found leftover cheese tarts in the table drawer. We couldn't stay any longer to wait for the surprise dessert." - @tyetaynic
WHO KNOWS WHAT THE PANTRY HAS TO OFFER?

"Let me start by saying I have nothing against the LGBT community. Everything happened in Shanghai during an exchange programme. It was all fun till I found out my roomie is gay. One night in our room, I was craving for bananas (I don't know why, okay) and I decided to head down to the store to get some.
Being nice, I ask if he wanted anything and told him I was getting bananas.
He smirked and replied in a serious tone: "Why would you wanna waste money? There's already one right here." - @hlhanlin
The birthday boy who never got his wish granted
"When checking in, the manager attending to me realised it was my birthday and told me there would be a complimentary cake and surprise for me at night. After waiting the whole night, my friend called the reception thrice to check. All we got each time was: "Let me check and get back to you."
"THOUGH THE HOTEL ROOM HAD A WEIRD STENCH, I STAYED BECAUSE
OF WHAT THE MANAGER PROMISED."

The next morning, while checking out, the manager was "off duty" and the hotel never had complimentary cakes for guests' birthdays. That was officially my worst birthday and hotel stay ever." - @kongsterkelvin
Sweet blooded friends
"My colleague and I were left to fend for ourselves in a car with 30,000 mosquitoes." - @souperaudsome

The toilet bowl hugger
"It was one of the celebration nights where friends would gather for drinks. I had a drop too much and puked the whole night at the toilet. I eventually fell asleep in the toilet!
Note to self: don't ever drink till you're drunk anymore." - @jasonchewth
